Fraud Analytics are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team. Working in the area of fraud detection you will have the opportunity to present ideas, use new software and be part of Admiral’s work to keep ahead of the curve in its fraud prevention efforts. You’ll use your knowledge and our technology to combat fraud by suggesting new ideas and by analysing existing processes.
This role would suit logically minded people that are comfortable with numbers, keen to learn and have experience using programming languages. This role requires an element of independent working, so the ability to communicate results effectively to technical and non-technical audiences is key.
About the team
Fraud Analytics is a small, data focused team comprising of Fraud Data Analysts and Fraud Investigators. Our team looks to unearth value from both in house and external data sets by finding correlations in customer behaviour and fraudulent activity. We update and maintain Admiral’s core fraud applications and work with stake holders to manage and improve fraud detection rates. We are a growing team that are passionate about the work we do and love nothing more than to catch a fraudster!
Job Purpose
Fraud Data Analysts support the Fraud Analytics team and other key stake holders by creating and maintaining effective anti-fraud frameworks. They are responsible for carrying out a range of tasks including creating business rules, analysing data sources, network monitoring, and proactively suggesting process changes. Fraud Data Analysts need to be able to communicate confidently and clearly with our stakeholders and drive projects forward at all stages of development.
As a Graduate Fraud Data Analyst, you could be involved in:
- Applying your analytical expertise to identify fraud detection and processing opportunities
- Creating and maintaining bespoke portal frameworks and content for various departments in line with their business requirements
- Using SAS, SQL, Python and other tools to analyse large data sets and in turn make valuable suggestions and contributions to the project
- Working with department ‘Subject Matter Experts’ (SMEs) and Senior Managers to understand and solve problems by asking the right questions and delivering appropriate solutions
- Informing, influencing and supporting new products and initiatives across the group
- Remain up to date with trends and developments in the wider insurance fraud community, to ensure knowledge, skills and approaches remain current.
About you
- 2.1 or above in a Mathematical degree discipline is desired
- If you do not have a Mathematics degree, we are open to other STEM disciplines, subject to demonstrating a solid numerical and / or analytical academic background.

Location / Hybrid working
We are working in a hybrid approach and so are in the office approximately once per week in Cardiff (travel expenses are not covered). We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.
