About SPT
SPT manages and operates the Glasgow Subway, which is currently undergoing a £300m modernisation, aiming to improve customer experience and secure this iconic public asset for future generations. The modernisation programme will see replacement of the fleet of rolling stock, installation of a new signalling and control system, and introduction of platform screen doors. This project is set in the wider context of SPT seeking to support sustainable and accessible travel for the region.
About the Role
There has never been a more exciting time for a graduate to join our small engineering team as we work to maintain and improve the existing Subway assets, whilst also supporting the modernisation programme.
This role offers an opportunity to develop your engineering and management skills in a busy and multi-disciplined operational environment. You will support the Infrastructure Asset Engineer in the range of tasks relating to management and improvement of the Subway infrastructure. The graduate role will commence in Summer 2023 (date to be agreed) and will follow a 2.5 to 3 year programme, giving you the opportunity to work collaboratively with other stakeholders and departments and also to take responsibility for working independently on discrete scopes.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of different activities, establishing familiarity with a variety of Subway assets and being involved in a series of improvement and renewal projects. The role will give you the opportunity to be involved in at all phases of asset and project life, including office and site based activities, as SPT looks to deliver sustainable and cost effective solutions.
About you
It is essential that you have a degree in a relevant civil / structural engineering discipline and preferably you will have some experience of working within an engineering environment. A self-motivated individual with a drive to succeed you will have strong communication, problem solving and numeracy skills, be confident dealing with technical information and have a real eye for detail. You must also be experienced in the use of MS Office Suite and AutoCAD.

Full time hours will be 35 hours per week Monday to Friday.
