Aquatic Engineering & Construction; part of Acteon Group, is a global leader in laying and retrieving flexible and semi rigid products from the seabed in support of the renewables, oil and gas and telecommunications markets. The company has proven ability in shallow / deep water, and extensive experience of off and onshore installations, transpooling, recovery and decommissioning.
Aquatic are recruiting for a Graduate Engineer to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. Based in South View Place, Peterhead, the Graduate Engineer will join the technical engineering team, shadowing the current Automation and Controls Engineer and working closely with the companies Electrical, Hydraulic and Mechanical engineers on a wide range of projects including the design, maintenance and upgrade of our equipment fleet to relevant industry standards, the design and implementation of client specific solutions and modifications to support our current projects, and the continual improvement of aquatics processes, procedures and standards.
The successful applicant will be developed according to a strict training plan as laid out by the Head of Operations and engineering team and will gain exposure to a wide range of aspect within the business with the goal of achieving the title of Automation Engineer at the conclusion of the training program.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain a proactive and enthusiastic approach to developing their skills and fulfilling requirements according to their training plan
- Work to become conversant with both Aquatic engineering design processes and relevant industry and legal requirements such as the Machinery Directive, BS 61508 and ISO 13849
- Work both as part of the larger engineering team on major projects and independently on smaller scopes and be able to deliver work scopes to set deadlines and in accordance with required standards
- Support the operations and offshore teams on the delivery of projects and scopes where required
- Demonstrate commitment to aquatic's safety culture and place safety at the forefront of everything that they do
- Attend training courses and to undertake graduate training milestone assessments as required to ensure competencies are met
Requirements
- Have a keen interest in programmable electrical and electronics systems
- Be finishing or have finished a degree or HND level qualification in a relevant subject (Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or similar) and have an interest in moving toward specialisation in industrial automation and control
- Have good teamworking and collaboration skills
- Have strong written and oral English communication skills and the ability to write cohesive and clear documentation on technical subjects
- Have excellent computer skills and ideally have had some exposure to any form of PC or embedded systems programming
- Have basic CAD and technical drawing skills and be willing to undertake further training as required to develop these skills to the required level
- Previous exposure to any form of hydraulics or pneumatic systems would be advantageous but not required as training will be provided
