Aerotron Composites is a privately owned company, one of a number of successful aviation companies in the Aerotron group. At our site in Chatteris we manufacture composite aircraft components for a number of major aerospace manufacturers. We are currently expanding our manufacturing capacity and in 2022 will launch new repair capability for airlines within a new build extension of our current facilities.
We are looking for a Graduate Engineer to join our established team. Salary and responsibility will be offered according to experience and qualifications.
Job Purpose
· To lead and support the design and manufacturing engineering tasks across multiple projects, from concept phase through to physical delivery of components, assemblies and tooling. To ensure delivery is to specification, within time, cost and quality constraints.
Key Responsibilities
· Engineering
o Design tooling using 3D Computer Aided Design tools (Catia)
o Ensure designs and manufacturing schemes meet performance and quality requirements, and statutory regulations
o Continuous improvement in the efficiency and accuracy for the flow of manufacturing information.
o To provide method/process information to all manufacturing areas of the business
o Technical supervision within projects
o Shop Floor Liaison
o To integrate with the company’s ERP system as required for each project.
o Specify proprietary components
o Compile and control Bills of Materials
· Project
o Own and coordinate projects from estimating to part manufacture
o Ensure customer scope and requirements are documented, and change managed
o Establish project plan and manage technical delivery
o Liaise with customer representatives to enable efficient transfer of data, and to ensure designs and manufacturing schemes meet the customer’s expectations
o Communicate with suppliers and compile specifications, to ensure subsequent manufacture is in accordance with design intent
o Communicate with customers regarding product technical support
· Company Support
o Support shop floor staff as required to ensure manufacture in compliance with design intent, and by the most efficient methods
o Fully comply with Company Policies including Health and Safety at all times
Requirements
· Relevant degree
· Proficient IT/computer capabilities and competent user of standard packages
· Knowledge of ERP systems desirable
· Highly organised and process-oriented, with a logical approach
· Work accurately, with good attention to detail
· Persistence and determination to overcome obstacles and resolve problems
· Comfortable working to time constraints
· Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, and listening
· Aptitude for building productive working relationships in a variety of situations (direct team members; other internal colleagues; external customers)
· Capacity to learn new information, processes and/or systems and apply them appropriately
· Self-motivated and confident
· Composite industry experience desirable
