With Increasing workloads from existing clients and our success in winning new Water Company frameworks has resulted in the need to further grow our ecology services, with an opportunity for a passionate graduate to support directly alongside the team.
You'll be based in either Reading or our new Brighton office. You will be working alongside an integrated team of environmental professionals. where you will be assisting in delivering effective and professional ecology services to a range of new and existing clients across the water industry. This role will predominately be based in the field, but some time will also be required in the office operating in a hybrid working model.
Your day-to-day activities could include undertaking site visits and conducting field-based surveys such as habitat classification surveys, protected species surveys and terrestrial/ aquatic ecology surveys. You will also be producing high quality technical survey reports such as ecological appraisals, ecological impact assessments and protected species survey reports.
About you
- You will have an Honours degree in Biology, Ecology, Zoology, Environmental sciences, Geography or any other relevant subject within this discipline.
- You will have a passion for ecology, demonstrated through relevant ecological work experience
- As you'll be getting stuck into fieldwork straight away, any relevant field experience is desirable
- Experience using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software would be highly advantageous.
- Experience in ecological and protected species surveys, or other technical reports which demonstrate strong scientific writing abilities would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of the practical application of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), including the Water Framework Directive
- Be working towards, if not already, a membership of CIEEM, IFM RSB. With a desire to work towards chartered status.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- You must be eligible to work in the UK at the time you start employment.
