Job description
Graduate Designer, Research & Consultancy
Location: London
Salary: £24K— Start Date: ASAP
Are you curious about solving complex data visualisation challenges using design thinking? Would you like crafting beautiful layouts to showcase analysis of the UK’s economy?
We’re looking for a designer to join our Research & Consultancy team to help create stunning reports on high-growth businesses and emerging technologies. See what we mean here: www.beauhurst.com/research/spotlight-spinouts-2023/
About us
We’re a market-leading tech company that provides data on the fastest growing companies in the UK. We’re at a pretty exciting stage right now—we’ve built a profitable, high-growth business, with 120+ employees and an enviable client list. But we’re not done yet. We’re on a mission to become a global data company that helps every organisation discover and work better with ambitious, high-growth companies.
The Role
Our Research and Consultancy team uses data to provide bespoke projects for our clients, helping them to understand the most exciting businesses in the UK, and the ecosystem around them. As our second Research & Consultancy Designer, you’ll help to deliver these projects by creating effective data visualisations, eye-catching front covers, content for social media, website landing pages, and more. Publications will be widely distributed and cover the most cutting-edge tech topics.
Day-to day, your responsibilities will include:
- Design and layout in bespoke research reports: you’ll be responsible for producing stunning reports that show off our research. No two reports are the same!
- Visualising our data: you’ll need to ensure our data is clear and accessible in any charts and graphics you design. You won’t be expected to do any heavy data analysis; this will be done by other members of the team!
- Working with brand guidelines: our reports might be in the Beauhurst brand or a client’s brand—you’ll have the opportunity to work with different visual identities.
- Collaborating with the rest of the team: you’ll work closely with analysts and project managers to create reports that make our clients happy.
- Exploring new concepts: whether it’s trialling new software or exploring new types of content, we’re always looking to broaden what we do.
About you
We’re looking for a graduate with creative skills but a bit of an eye for numbers as well. If you’re into infographics and other forms of visual communication, this could be the role for you!
Ideally, you’ll be:
- Confident with Adobe Creative Suite, in particular InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Keen on typography, typesetting and layout principles
- Detail-oriented
- Highly organised, able to prioritise and multitask
- Comfortable with numbers and data
Also, it’d be helpful if you had:
- Experience with data visualisation, chart design or making infographics
- An interest in business, finance, or tech—many of our reports focus on these areas
Our offer
We're offering the opportunity for you to take your first steps as a professional designer.
On top of this, we invest a lot in keeping our people happy and healthy! So as well as that, you'll also get:
- Professional development: Ongoing training and development, and free books
- A stake in the company: Substantial options scheme, so you can share in the growth that you help create
- The latest tech: We’ll provide you with all the tech you need to be productive (including a Mac!), whether you’re in the office or working from home
- Health and wellness: Free counselling, wellbeing baskets, and healthy snacks
- Events: Drinks every Friday, interesting talks from industry experts, company-wide parties and away days, plus regular team socials
- Subsidised travel: Rail season ticket loan, free railcards, and a cycle to work scheme
