The role
The role is for our fast-growing CPU Hardware team. We are expanding our CPU IP development from internal use to support an extensive portfolio offering highly competitive RISC-V CPUs, either as standalone IPs or as part of Imagination’s Heterogeneous Compute offering, which includes our world-class GPU and NNA (Neural Network Accelerator) compute elements. Our mission is to create through constant innovation the best-in-class RISC-V CPUs for a wide range of market segments and applications including automotive, data centres and mobiles.

No prior knowledge of digital hardware is required. Full training will be provided on both industry tools and cutting-edge techniques developed in-house, and you will be creating your own original ideas to push out the boundary of what can be achieved.
You will:
- Be a part of CPU HW team who focus on design of digital IPs and formally prove that they function correctly.
- Understand, crystallise, and extract the requirements for hardware blocks with the engineers throughout Imagination.
- Contribute into defining and evaluating a variety of hardware architectures for implementing designs as per requirements.
- Be Involved in design verification and debugging design issues in collaboration with other engineers.
- Automate common routine tasks using various programming languages.
- Research new techniques and produce patentable work in hardware design.

You'll have:
- Bachelor's degree or PhD in Electronics Engineering or Compute Science.
- The ability to communicate complex technical information concisely and unambiguously both verbally and in writing.
- Good diagnostic and analytical skills
- Attention to detail, a critical mind with the ability to think both abstractly and concretely.
You might also have:
- Knowledge of CPU/GPU architecture
- Programming language knowledge of C, C++, Python
- Understanding of digital design using Verilog / SystemVerilog/ VHDL
- Familiarity with Unix-based systems.
