Roke is a leading technology and engineering company with clients spanning National Security, Defence and Industry 4.0 through our Futures business and Intelligence-as-a-Service. You’ll be joining the Futures business unit which has a wide range of customers in a variety of domains including aerospace, energy, and public sector.
As a Graduate AI Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll learn to evaluate and design algorithms including deep learning model architectures; classical image processing and machine learning; tracking and sensor fusion; and large scale data analysis. You’ll be implementing analytics as components of real-world systems and working in various project roles applying AI across domains such as Aerospace, Energy, Central Government and Law Enforcement, and Critical National Infrastructure.
The Key Requirements...
- Relevant degree in STEM related subject, ideally with a strong focus on Computing Science
- Knowledge or interest in some of the following:
- At least one high level programming language e.g., Python, Rust, C++
- Software development best practices
- At least one area of AI/ML, e.g., image processing, reinforcement learning or deep learning Implementation and/or adaptation of algorithms from research papers
You’ll spend the first six weeks of your time in a specially designed boot camp that equips you with the fundamental skills required to succeed at Roke. After this, you’ll join a live project, continue to receive training, and start to contribute directly, building client relationships and supporting bidding activities to win new business. Your graduate scheme will last two years and provide plenty of variety, giving you the opportunity to develop a portfolio that can be used to showcase your developing skills during regular salary reviews.

Due to the nature of this position, we require you to be eligible to achieve BPSS and SC. As a result, you should be a British Citizen, have resided in the UK for the last 5 years and prepared to declare any travel that includes being out of the UK for more than 28 days in the last 5 years.
