The Vacancy
RSK Acoustics is looking for an ambitious Graduate Acoustic Consultant to join their team in Manchester on a full time, permanent basis. This role will be office based with some requirement to travel.
RSK Acoustics is part of the wider RSK group, but has established itself as a highly successful acoustic consultancy in its own right. The team is involved in a diverse range of projects in the UK and overseas, covering all areas of acoustics. We have established a reputation for excellence amongst our wide private and public sector client base. The team has a strong pipeline of work across a number of renewable energy schemes, traditional power generation (oil and gas), education, R&D, energy transmission and transportation schemes across Scotland. The candidate would also support the wider acoustics team with other projects throughout the UK, continental Europe, East Africa, Middle East and Asia.
Key Responsibilities
- Assistance in the production of tenders, proposals and bids for intended works.
- Assistance in the production of technical reports.
- Organise and undertake onsite works – equipment hire, travel, hotels, site access etc. Noise/vibration monitoring as per project requirement - this is likely to involve day, night and potentially weekend work, and travel throughout the UK.
- Download noise and vibration meter data and provide analysis for projects.
- Undertake computational noise modeling (Building and Environmental Acoustics)where project require with support from the Team Leader
- Become aware of and familiar with the required British Standards (BS4142, BS5228, BS8233 ETSU 97,BB93 etc) for the intended work
Person Specification
- Degree or post graduate degree in acoustics desirable. Other degree subjects will be considered, where there is a clear interest in the subject of acoustics, and/or the physical environment
- Technician Membership of the Institute of Acoustics (TechIOA) is desirable
- Academic and/or work experience in a scientific area related to acoustics, or a fundamental interest in the field of acoustics
- Computer literate and be able to quickly adapt to using bespoke software packages (SoundPlan, CadnaA andCATT)
- Good level of experience in noise/vibration monitoring
- Full clean UK or International driving licence is essential for this role.
