GP Surgery Health Care Assistance experience and Receptionist
- To be responsible for the read coding of relevant information into patients’ electronic healthcare records on the Emis Web clinical system, adhering to the correspondence -workflow management.

Primary key responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Medical Read Coder / Workflow Administrator. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Read coding / Scanning / Summarising
a. Accurately clinically coding data on Emis Web into the patient record
b. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action
c. Document / workflow management – Documents to be filed or work flowed to the appropriate staff as necessary as per practice policy ie. further coding, safeguarding, prescribing etc.
d. Inputting and extracting data as required to support practice reports
e. Filing and storing records as required
f. Actioning all incoming correspondence including opening and date stamping post, emails and mail in a timely manner
g. Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients’ healthcare records in a reasonable timeframe.
h. Inputting data into patients’ healthcare records as necessary
i. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
j. Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
k. Review and update the practice coding policy as required with management input
l. Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead
m. Patient registrations
n. Assist the Data Quality Co-Ordinator when required.
o. Assist Administration Staff in any duties as and when required by the management team.
p. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
q. You are a driver ,have access of vehicle
Patient services:
- Provide and maintain a high level of service to patients, visitors and colleagues;
- Ensure effective communication between reception staff and clinicians, in particular when patients are distressed or unwell;
- Provide patients with all appropriate information regarding services provided in the
Practice;
- Promote a positive image to visitors and callers by maintaining a high standard of personal appearance and attitude and by dealing with enquiries in a professional and polite manner;
- Greet and direct patients appropriately to the correct service;
