Salisbury Medical Practice is looking to recruit a committed, enthusiastic and resilient GP Assistant to join our Practice.

As a GP Assistant, you will be working alongside the in-house Pharmacy Team consisting of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and fellow GP Assistant/s. The post holder will be providing efficient administrative support including the processing of patient prescription requests whilst following Practice policies and procedures.

The role will involve following an online 6-9 month structured programme completing a portfolio of evidence to gain a GPA Skills Certificate. The portfolio is completed in-house with some protected time and GP mentorship. The programme will mainly involve administrative competencies but will include some clinical competencies such as phlebotomy, blood pressure taking, urinalysis, height & weight etc.

The ideal candidate will have had previous customer service experience (ideally in a medical environment, however this is not essential), will have experience working as part of a team and will have the ability to liaise with staff at all levels. Applicants must have a friendly disposition, flexible approach and be adaptable to change. We work in a fast-paced environment, therefore the candidate must be a fast learner and confident and competent using IT software’s.

This is a part time permanent position, 25 hours a week over working Monday to Friday 1300 to 1800. We offer 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata), a competitive salary and the chance to join or continue on in the NHS Pension Scheme. As this role will be clinical as well as administrative, applicants will have to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide evidence of certain immunisations/immunity.
