The General Counsel Office (GCO) at easyJet ensures legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance while protecting the business and customers. With a team of around 100 people, including professionals with diverse qualifications and capabilities, GCO handles essential projects such as aircraft procurement, system trials, and government negotiations. What you'll be doing
To support the delivery of key public policy objectives, particularly in relation to government policy development both in key markets within the EU and the UK. The individual will take a supportive role, aiding the policy team in delivering specific policy issues across easyJet’s markets, both UK and in Europe. easyJet has a leading role in sustainability and climate engagement within aviation. We were ranked first among European airlines for our climate engagement and continue to take our commitment to sustainable advocacy seriously. As part of the policy team you will contribute to promoting fair climate policies that apply across the sector and play a positive role in decarbonising aviation. In addition to sustainability issues, you will also have the opportunity to work on a variety of other policy topics with an impact on easyJet’s operations.
What you need to do the role
As a support member of the policy team, your role would involve assisting the Policy Managers and collaborating with them on government engagement activities in the UK, Brussels, and other European capitals. The primary objective is to ensure that easyJet's ethical values and business priorities are effectively represented in official decision-making processes.
Additionally, you would contribute to government policy development in key markets such as the UK and European Union. This entails working with internal teams, including Markets, Communications, Sustainability, Commercial, and Operations, to develop easyJet's positions on policy issues that align with business objectives. You would also play a role in gathering data-driven evidence, identifying potential impacts on easyJet's operations due to policy changes, and managing the policy team's data resources.
Another aspect of your responsibility is assisting in enhancing the impact of easyJet's policy team. This would involve identifying engagement opportunities, arranging meetings with external stakeholders, and overseeing meeting agendas. You would also support the relationship with trade associations and document relevant developments.
Furthermore, part of your role would be to identify proactive opportunities for easyJet to influence government policy and legislative reforms in the UK and other significant European markets, aligning with easyJet's objectives. You would have the opportunity to represent easyJet and its policies during engagements with key aviation stakeholders, which may include travel to Brussels and other locations in the UK and Europe.

Location & Hours of Work
This full-time role will be based in Hangar 89, Luton Airport, and will be 40 hours per week. Some overseas travel will be required.
