This role is based in the United Kingdom and as such all normal working days must be carried out in the United Kingdom.

Join us as a Government & Payments Schemes Product Manager

  • We’re looking for someone to formulate and regularly review our payment industry and schemes strategy
  • You’ll be delivering industry level expertise across the government, payment schemes, and trade bodies environment, utilising in-depth knowledge at specific scheme and policy level
  • This is an opportunity to promote the Government & Payment schemes and wider industry across the bank, enhancing your reputation in the process

What you'll do

As a self-motivated manager, you’ll liaise with external partners to make sure that current industry arrangements are fit for purpose and proposing enhancements where they can be made. You’ll be providing confidence to senior management that we are meeting our industry responsibilities and you’ll ensure sure that all reporting obligations to payment and government bodies are delivered within agreed timescales and to a high quality.

You’ll also be:

  • Ensuring that we are viewed positively as a proactive and constructive contributor to the payments industry policy landscape

The skills you'll need

In this role, you’ll need excellent attention to detail and the ability to decipher key information from highly complex documents. This will require an analytical mind-set and a strong, industry level understanding of the payment industry environment. You’ll also need comprehensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory issues impacting schemes and the wider industry as well as how interventions are initiated within Industry bodies.

You’ll need to be comfortable with changing priorities in a fast-moving environment and good at dealing with ambiguity. You’ll also need to be capable of strategic thinking that encompasses changes in technology, political, regulatory, and commercial priorities.

In addition to this, you’ll be expected to have:

  • Experience of engaging at a strategic level across the payments industry with trade bodies, government departments, or other regulatory bodies
  • The ability to prioritise workflow and maintain a high quality of output under pressure
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for payment scheme development
  • Good written and oral communication skills, able to produce excellent reports and policy documents
  • A strong grasp of the issues facing the payments industry today, allied to a knowledge of the industry in the UK, Europe, and globally

If you need any adjustments to support your application, such as information in alternative formats or special requirements to access our buildings, or if you’re eligible under the Disability Confident Scheme please contact us and we’ll do everything we can to help.
