Governance and Framework Risk Assessment Lead

HSBC Market & Securities Services (MSS) provides comprehensive global, regional and domestic fund services including fund administration, global custody and sub-custody settlement and services. Securities Lending Operations is a dynamic department that works with partners across the HSBC Global Banking and Markets business to deliver Securities Lending solutions to clients.

We are currently seeking a professional to join our team at an Associate Director (GCB4 level) in the role of: Governance and Framework Risk Assessment working within our MSS business, Non-Financial Risk team.

The effective management of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) is a high priority for Markets and Securities Services (MSS). The MSS Governance and Framework team sits within the 1LOD Non-Financial Risk function and is responsible for the oversight and effective embedding of the NFR Framework

A high-level overview of the role is. This role will coordinate the review of conduct risks across Markets in conjunction with Asset Class Risk Owners, Control Owners and NFR leads. The successful candidate will need to manage multiple stakeholders globally to ensure appropriate input and review/ challenge of our risk assessments in a timely manner. The role holder will also ensure the HSBC values are present in everything they do, both individually and as an organisation. The role has a hybrid working pattern allowing for home based and office-based working at HSBC offices at Canada Square, London. You will need to be able to work from London on a weekly basis

In this role you will

  • Manage the MSS risk profile through a deep understanding of the risks facing the business and the adequacy of controls.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the group framework requirements and translation of these into MSS risk management
  • Understand the emerging risk profile for MSS globally and work with multiple stakeholders front to back to ensure actions are appropriate to manage these risks
  • Drive cross MSS Trigger events to ensure consistency of approach and appropriately document the rationale to support changes to the risk profile
  • Work closely with control owners to understand the impact of control ratings on MSS risk assessments and co-ordinate with asset classes and risk stewards to appropriately reflect these impacts.
  • Manage the material ratings change process for MSS and work with Asset Classes to ensure risk acceptances are in place where appropriate, with detailed path to green actions
  • Manage regulatory interaction on the application of the risk management framework in MSS
Requirements

To be successful, you should meet the following requirements

  • An understanding of Risk and Control Assessments is essential, including knowledge of Non-Financial Risk Frameworks and the assessment of conduct risks in wholesale market activities.
  • A good understanding of understanding of the MSS business including its structure and products / asset classes
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience that enables you to engender trust and credibility with senior leaders across multiple functions (including MSS Front Office, Product Control, Traded Risk, Compliance, Audit).
  • Evidence of Project Management that demonstrates an analytical approach that aids in problem-solving
  • Microsoft Excel / working with data skills
