Your role:
Are you an experienced and enthusiastic programme manager, who thrives as part of a large programme, working alongside multiple partners and stakeholders? Are you able to provide organisation and structure working across many different streams of work to ensure a co-ordinated and effective work programme? Are you interested in being part of work that is rooted in what is important to people and communities, helping address inequalities? If so the role of Project manager for Live Well might be a great fit for you.
Live Well is a Mayoral manifesto commitment and a key part of Greater Manchester’s response to tackling health and wellbeing inequalities. With good places to live, friendly communities and enough money it is easier to Live Well - to feel safe and healthy, and to find purpose, connection, and happiness. Being deprived of these exacerbates the persistent health inequalities we see in many communities in Greater Manchester. If we are to make it easier for everyone to Live Well, we need to invest in the potential of people and communities to overcome life’s challenges and to build healthy lives and places.
There is plenty of fantastic work already happening across Greater Manchester. Everyday, people get and give advice and support, contribute to communities, and take part in activities that keep them active, creative and making friends. However, these opportunities aren’t equally accessible to everyone, and often great work struggles to find sustainable funding.
To make community health and wellbeing available for everyone across Greater Manchester some systems and approaches need to change. This includes, for example: the relationships between statutory and voluntary organisations; decision making that takes place far from communities; short term funding cycles; and the way organisations are commissioned. The strategic work of Live Well won’t interfere with what local people know how to do best, but it will help make it easier for all those who seek to create healthier happier communities.
About you:
As Project Manager you will work to the Live Well Strategic Lead to co-ordinate and support a broad programme of work, including as part of development work led in localities, a learning network across Greater Manchester, and work to understand, steer and communicate the progress of the programme.
You will be someone who is highly skilled and can turn their hand to a wide range of tasks, including communications, engagement, report writing, data and intelligence and much more besides. You will work alongside others to help put things into action, inform system learning, and keep the programme organised and on track. You will be a great communicator, excellent at building relationships and collaborating. You will have played a key role in work in a complex programme before, and be calm and organised under pressure.
