The post is based within the College’s Commercial Operations team and this is an exciting opportunity to join our Global Summer School team, running administration and logical support for two residential summer schools in July and August.
The Global Summer School, now in its sixth year, selects over 300 students aged 16 – 17 through a competitive application process to study at Imperial College London for two weeks over the summer. Students travel from approximately 50 countries each year to take part in either Engineering, Physical Sciences or Medicine and Life Sciences streams.
Duties and responsibilities
You will assist in the smooth running of the Global Summer School. You will be the first point on contact for all student enquiries and will support the student administration cycle which includes student applications, course fee payments and visa letters as well as dealing with very sensitive information such as students’ medical records.
You will support on the social and pastoral programme planning, which runs every evening and weekend during the summer schools. You will work with the marketing team help to maintain the Global Summer School web pages as well as help develop the programme’s communication materials and use of social media.
Essential requirements
You will have experience working in a busy office environment in an administration capacity and juggling a varied workload with tight schedules, ideally in a Higher Education setting.
You will have experience of dealing successfully and positively with a wide variety of internal and external contacts and a good level of understanding of summer schools or short course programmes.
You will also have excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to tailor communications for different audiences and communication channels.
It is essential that you have excellent attention to detail and well as the ability to use their initiative to solve problems as they arise. In this role, you must be able to cope under pressure to prioritise a busy and varied workload.

This is a full time and fixed term role for 2 years, and you will be based in our South Kensington Campus. Out-of-hours working and additional working hours will be required leading up to and during the summer schools. Additional hours worked can be claimed back as time off in lieu.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Frameworkuntil early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
