Do you have experience in delivering effective HR change and transformation at strategic/ operational levels in a fast-paced environment? Does that include proven experience in a senior HR role where you have fostered a culture of inclusiveness and driven the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging agenda, ideally in a global non-profit entity?
Hours can be from 27 to 34.5 hours per week in a flexible working pattern. Attendance in London approx. once per month in Ludgate Hill area.
The opportunity
SPANA are The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad, one of UK’s leading global equine charities for working animals in low-income countries. Since 1923, working through a series of global projects and partnerships across 26 countries, they have supported the welfare of working animals in communities that depend on them for water, transport, agriculture, and their very survival.
As the Global People and EDI Manager, a new role reporting to the Director of Global Finance, you will work closely with SPANA’s Director of Global Resources to develop and implement a global workforce strategy. You will lead the implementation of organisational initiatives, including Learning and Development, Wellbeing, and Internal Communication. SPANA celebrates its centenary this year with the launch of a new strategy to reach and transform the lives of more working animals than ever, so you will be joining at an exciting time of change. If you are experienced in proactively collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels and capable of driving healthy employment relations, this role could be perfect for you.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Management and motivation of the HR Administrator to achieve HR excellence
- Continuous improvement of the employee journey, removing bottlenecks and implementing best practice in all areas
- Give timely and accurate advice and guidance to line managers on HR employee relations issues
- Provide in-depth support and legislative expertise in areas such as performance management, grievance, disputes, absence, and disciplinary action.
- Provide timely and value-added recruitment support globally, including guidance and training to interviewers, and invigorating the Apprenticeship Programme
- Support timely completion of effective performance management to inform talent development
- Lead on organisation learning and development priorities; develop career paths to help grow internal talent pool
- With the senior team, plan and develop specific equality, diversity and inclusion priorities and targets to demonstrate best practice
- Oversee UK monthly payroll preparation, complete salary benchmarking and review of benefits
- Create easy to interpret monthly reporting to demonstrate HR success and improvement globally, showcasing EDI priorities
Your skills, attributes, experience, and qualifications:
- CIPD qualified to at least Level 5, with a visible commitment to Continuous Professional Development
- Proven HR experience in a senior role with robust knowledge of Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging best practice
- Experience of working for an international NGO or global charity
- An awareness of the importance of Safeguarding
- A proven track record of delivering effective HR change, transformation, and improvement in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrable knowledge of current employment legislation, familiarity with complex cases and the ability to foster healthy employment relations
- Experience with HR Management Software such as cloud-based databases, payroll and absence management platforms.
