Custody Global Operations has approximately 2,600 staff in 60 plus countries and budget of over $180mm with global revenue $2bn with over a 1,700 clients.
Team/Position Overview
The Global Head of Custody Operations Tax Services will report to the Global Head of Custody and will be responsible for all Tax Operations in Custody, Service to Clients and the implementation of new Tax products as defined by the Global Product Development team. This role will manage a complex experienced team of over 140 staff across the globe and work in close partnership with each of the functional areas as well as Asset Servicing and the business functions to assess the required processes and controls as well as Service Agreements with clients. The role is also expected to bring thought leadership to the growing process of Tax Operations to work closely with the Product to help define a world class operation providing the best in class service for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support growth strategy for Tax by partnering with Product and regions to evaluate tax offerings and service expansion and provide expertise for client prospects/RPFs
- Develop best practices and implement procedures and controls to ensure consistent compliance with global tax regulations.
- Ensure the implementation and adoption of a globally consistent system set for the operation
- Ensure commonality in all processes where possible across relief at source, reclaims, capital gains and any other specific tax requirements and reporting
- Monitor global tax changes; implement and communicate necessary changes
- Identify and drive process re-engineering and redesign activities to achieve better controls, compliance and efficiencies
- Monitor internal and external benchmarks and implement best practices across locations
- Identify, develop and retain key talent on behalf of the overall business. Ensure people strategy and organizational capabilities are aligned to the business strategy.
Experience and Skills
- Accountancy or other Financial Tax Qualification / Degree is preferred
- 10 years of related globall tax experience with major accounting or law firm or financial services industry
- Proven ability to operate at a senior business analytics level with a high focus on tax related risk management
- Ability to introduce and drive change in a complex environment
- Proven ability to handle complex and sensitive situations and quickly identify and remediate risks
- Self-reliant and results oriented with a proven ability to handle complex situations
- Demonstrated experience leading people and developing effective and diverse teams across a global footprint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate and influence at senior levels
- Strong organizational and project management skills, able to work under pressure and prioritize to deadlines
