Job description
Deliveroo is looking for an experienced communications professional to help steer the global consumer communications strategy, creative vision and tone for how we communicate across all our markets (with the exception of the Middle East region). Please note, this is a fixed-term contract, providing maternity leave cover from October 2023 onwards (end date TBC).
You will lead and advise Heads of Consumer Communications in Italy, France, Belgium, Hong Kong and Singapore to deliver the communications strategy and programme. You will also take a hands-on role in the running of UK and Ireland communications operations, managing a Senior Communications Manager and PR Manager. Deliveroo works with specialist PR agencies in each market in which we operate.
Our Consumer Communications team works in close collaboration with Brand Social, Corporate Communications and Marketing teams, therefore experience managing senior partners and creating and leading integrated campaigns is important. As much of the comms and social programme is devised and implemented by the in-house Deliveroo team, this role is best suited to an experienced leader who embraces creativity, can work at a fast pace and manage multiple work streams simultaneously.
What you'll do:
Reporting to the VP Global Communications, you will:
- Lead teams to create and launch creative consumer comms PR campaigns and stunts for Deliveroo in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Belgium, Hong Kong and Singapore
- Work with teams to develop specific media strategies for activations to maximise impact and coverage across multiple channels
- Help to connect with consumers and keep Deliveroo front-of-mind by leading emotive campaigns and storytelling that steals share of voice
- Lead workshops with agencies and in-house teams to come up with creative story ideas that can be implemented in the UK and wider markets
- Work with local Marketing, Commercial and Ops teams to ensure plans support market-level goals
- Lead communications on new product announcements in a way that makes them exciting to media and customers
- Look for opportunities to adapt stories across several markets, taking local nuances into consideration
- Draft responses and statements for media enquiries where needed
- Work with senior figures in Deliveroo's leadership team to prepare them for media appearances
- Manage the performance of UK PR agencies and support comms managers with local agency relationships
- Develop a team of five direct reports to work towards professional and personal goals
- Work with Legal and Compliance teams to approve campaigns and new product development
- Work with Corporate communications to handle reputation management issues and lead consumer CSR programmes in the UK. You will also support Heads of Consumer Comms in markets to launch purpose-led campaigns.
What we're looking for:
- You will have experience developing and launching consumer-facing campaigns (ideally within a high-growth, consumer-facing brand).
- You will have previous leadership experience and be well-versed in influencing internal and external partners.
- You will be attuned to setting benchmarks, evaluating and improving the success of campaigns to report on this internally.
- You are a natural team player who loves food and understands the role it can play in culture.
