The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Investment professional specialising in Energy (including Clean Technology) to join M&G’s Central Equities research team. The successful applicant will work closely with fund managers and contribute stock ideas to global, regional and country portfolios, whilst providing views and analysis on pricing and trends in global energy markets. A core aspect of the position is analysis, idea generation and engagement around M&G’s approach to the energy transition. The role also offers the opportunity to bring sector expertise to private asset investments in early-stage companies. The successful candidate has an option to include Chemicals and/or Utilities in their coverage

Key Responsibilities for this role:
- To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G’s operational risk.
- Develop and curate an investment universe of stocks, where over time you have generated sufficient insight to enjoy a superior perspective in pricing risk surrounding those names
- Generate independent, high quality stock investment ideas that add alpha to country, regional and global portfolios
- Be a key participant and contributor to the Equity teams (Global, UK, Sustain/Impact, GEMS, Asia Pacific) and the wider M&G investment business including Fixed Income and private assets
- Communicate ideas effectively through shared written work in a concise and agreed format with the wider team. Contribute verbally within team and wider meetings. Sharing written work in a timely and efficient manner is especially important
- Work effectively with your colleagues to share insights and know-how and in the process contribute to our positive and inclusive team culture
- Always act in a regulatory complaint manner and always uphold the highest standards of business and personal ethics
- Act as an ambassador for M&G Investments in all interaction with colleagues, clients, counterparties and corporates
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- At least 8 years’ of relevant analytical experience from either buy side or sell side
- Specific expertise from one or more of the Oil & Gas, Chemicals or Utilities sectors
- Curious, open-minded, and an excellent technical analyst. Strong modelling skills a key requisite
- Ability to think laterally and creatively to generate his/her own investment ideas
- Team player
