Job description

The GIS Analyst will support our internal technical teams to deliver robust GIS solutions for our clients. You will be working on a wide variety of planning and consenting projects, from renewable energy to infrastructure, manufacturing and residential development.

Atmos has invested and developed our own, award-winning, bespoke GIS data management system, allowing us to combine, analyse and model data from a variety of sources for a range of purposes.

Using this system you will analyse, visualise, interrogate, and interpret data to provide our clients with the information they need to determine what is relevant and allow efficient assessment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical input to projects and deliver high-quality outputs, including:

  • Geographical data capture, analysis, management and presentation.
  • Production of a variety of figures and mapping products.
  • Contribution to the existing visualisation workflows, from landscape photography through to 3D modelling and montaging.
  • Liaising with other internal teams on data management and analysis requirements.
  • Development of innovative models for internal analysis within existing Atmos disciplines and external job opportunities.
  • Assisting the ongoing development of mobile data capture tools and processes to support field teams.
  • Design of tools and processes to develop existing and new data flows, improving efficiency and data quality.

What we are looking for?

An enthusiastic and capable GIS specialist, who can contribute to a range of GIS and visualisation duties in a dynamic environment, who will bring the following skills.

Core Skills

  • A degree qualification in GIS or a related field, with MSc desirable.
  • Sound understanding of core GIS concepts and principles
  • Experience of capturing, editing, analysing and high-quality presentation of GIS data
  • Experience of using ESRI products and extensions
  • Effective problem solving, innovation and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and systematically with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time, working under pressure as part of a team to meet targets

Desirable skills

  • Experience of using GIS in a consultancy or client-facing environment; delivering duties against defined timescales and budgets
  • Experience of a range of Ordnance Survey and UK environmental datasets and products
  • Experience of ArcGIS Online and mobile GIS solutions
  • Experience of landscape photography
  • Experience of photo editing and 3D modelling software
  • Clean and full driving licence
