If so, you might be interested in our Geospatial Underwriting Analyst role working within our new Underwriting Team!
Package: Salary £46-67k DOE, with excellent benefits including 25 holiday days (plus your birthday off) private medical insurance, and pet insurance discount.
We are flexible on the location for this role, it can be based fully remote in the UK, hybrid or based within our office in Amesbury- including a streamlined remote on-boarding process.
What you`ll get up to as a Geospatial Underwriting Analyst
As we continue to expand our business, we are looking for a candidate with specialism in geospatial trends expertise to join our Underwriting Analysis team at Animal Friends Insurance. You will be integral to the operations of our intermediary business and will be tasked with conducting advanced data analysis, especially those of a geospatial nature, to evaluate underwriting risks and opportunities. This role requires a strong foundation in data analytics, a deep understanding of underwriting practices, and the ability to provide mentorship to junior team members.
You will also have opportunities to produce analysis and insight that are also of interest to both our underwriter and the wider business group. Your work will extend beyond the boundaries of traditional underwriting, offering a perspective that addresses the needs of our various stakeholders. Your insights will inform decision-making processes and strategic initiatives that affect our entire organisation. We place high importance on the creation of value for all our partners, and your role will be pivotal in this respect, bridging the gap between underwriting and broader business concerns.
What we look for in you
Note that the below are not strict requirements. We would value technical proficiency and ability to conduct geographical analysis, including but not necessarily limited to:
Familiarity with geographic coordinate systems and proficiency using non-topological formats and hierarchical geospatial indexing system (e.g. shapefiles, H3) for storing and managing geometric location and attribute information of geographical entities.- Proficiency with Geographic Information System (GIS) software for managing, analysing, and visualising geographic data.
- Understanding of UK geographical and postal systems, including familiarity with UK postcode system, ONS census output areas, and other relevant regional groupings.
- Experience with geospatial statistical techniques such as cartographic modelling, spatial autocorrelation, spatial regression, spatial interpolation, spatial network analysis.
- Relevant experience where you have incorporated demographic, socioeconomic, and environmental data into geographic analyses, enhancing the depth and relevance of your insights.
- Excellent data visualization skills, enabling you to represent complex geographical data in an easily interpretable and actionable manner.
Your expertise in these areas will be crucial in elevating our geographic risk assessment and helping us optimise our underwriting decisions based on geographical trends and risk factors.
