As a GIS specialist at Amey, you will play a vital role in supporting the team's objectives by providing comprehensive support in all aspects related to spatial data. From mapping to data management and spatial analysis, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality visuals and drawings for public consultations and assessment reports. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to utilize your specialist analysis and modeling skills, including 3D and spatial analysis, landscape assessment, and network analysis. You will be responsible for:
The role is an exciting opportunity to assist Amey in delivering its environmental services for a wide range of private and public sector clients and to help expand the Environment & Sustainability Team’s current internal and external business opportunities.
The GIS team play an integral role within the Environment & Sustainability Team and throughout the wider Consulting and Rail business providing specialist data management and spatial analysis for a variety of projects ranging from license/content applications to technical assessments, including noise and vibration or Air Quality to modelling and design, Landscape or mitigation measures.
The position will involve the support of other business areas through the provision of geospatial data and accurate analysis in areas such as BIM, highways, traffic and geotechnics.
The successful candidate will be proficient in the use of ESRI ArcGIS/Pro, QGIS, SDE,Server and Enterprise with experience of integrating data from different sources.
Knowledge of online mapping tools (ARCGIS Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Online) and FME.

We want to hear from you if you have:
- A degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science or similar
- Member of a relevant professional institution or have demonstrable experience. Interested in working towards Chartered status
- Experience in the use of GIS based systems ESRI ArcGIS 10X and Pro (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, Arc Toolbox) and QGIS and some knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD and AutoCAD Maps 3D)
- Knowledge of spatial databases e.g. (PostGIS, SQL Server)
- Experience of managing GIS workload on multiple projects in a consultancy setting
- Experience of training or mentoring junior staff in GIS
- Familiarity with Ordnance Survey mapping datasets
- Managing daily data tasks
- Supporting the GIS/Operations team with larger projects
- Contributing to development supporting workflow/process efficiency
- Providing technical support for teams throughout including data, collection, and quality assurance
- Environmental Impact Assessment experience desirable
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, third parties and colleagues
- Excellent organisational skills
