Based in Norwich, Norfolk, Briar Chemicals is a leading large scale chemical company delivering customers’ needs utilising its broad asset and technology base underpinned by its quality driven project management.
We currently have a vacancy for a General Warehouse Operative based at our Norwich site. We are looking for an ambitious, energetic, hardworking and enthusiastic person with a flexible approach to work. The position runs on a 6 month fixed term contract.
The role of General Warehouse Operative involves a wide range of tasks that include:
- Preparation, drumming and appropriate disposal of chemical waste materials including reprocessing to improve quality prior to disposal.
- Fork truck distribution of finished products and raw materials to/from production plants and storage areas
- Packing, pallet loading and final preparation of finished products ready for shipment
- Cleaning duties including removal of solids from vessels, general vessel cleaning, drain cleaning and pressure washing.
- Liaison and teamwork with other team members to achieve the schedule of work.
Qualifications and experience
The work schedule is demanding offering both significant physical and mental challenges. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Forklift truck driving skills
- Relevant experience in a similar process industry
- A thorough understanding of Health and Safety practices
- A methodical and organised approach to work with the ability to work on own initiative
- Able to follow instructions
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to work and be committed to achieving high work standards.
Relevant training will be provided for the successful candidate.
Additional Information
39hrs per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 07:00 and 16:00. Start & finish times may vary depending on departmental needs.
