General Tradesperson - Saltash
Summary

This role is required for 37.5 hours per week.
What it's like to work here
The National Trust Let Estate portfolio includes tenanted Cottages, Farms, Commercial Properties and Holiday Cottages. Each property is unique. The role is based at Cotehele although travel to other locations may be required occasionally. Access to own vehicle is essential, mileage allowance will be paid
What you'll be doing
As the General Tradesperson, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the historic fabric and building services of our Let Estate properties, as part of the Let Estate team. You’ll support the team to meet its objectives by ensuring high standards are delivered and maintained at all times.
You’ll be assisting with carrying out repairs, maintenance and refurbishments on the buildings, utilising skills such as joinery and carpentry, basic plumbing and drainage, and decorating. Developing a detailed knowledge of the buildings in our care and ensuring that correct materials and methods are employed at all times. Ensuring machinery and equipment is properly stored and maintained, whilst being efficient and cost effective in the work you do. Ensuring that high quality risk assessments are carried out in line with Trust guidance for works that you are completing and monitor compliance with safety procedures
Who we're looking for
We'd love to hear from you if you have;
- Strong interpersonal skills. You will be liaising with tenants on a daily basis.
- Expertise in one or more general trades and in hands on and practical maintenance and repairs either within the home or workplace
- An understanding of traditional buildings/structures and able to make sound judgment on the appropriate extent and method of trade works within such settings
- Good time management including prioritising and managing own time to deliver agreed scope and quality of work
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety, CDM and Compliance requirements and experience of writing risk assessments and method statements for small programmes of work
- Familiar with use and maintenance of personal protective equipment
- Ability to work well in a team.
