THE OPPORTUNITY
We have commenced our search for an experienced General Manager to lead the team at Holiday Inn express Southampton, who was last year’s winner of “Hotel of the year” at RBH’s annual conference and awards. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will have a strong focus on the delivery of exceptional guest care, as well as the commercial performance of the business. As General Manager you will develop your knowledge of the local market to achieve sales and maximise on revenue, managing occupancy, and driving growth in the food and beverage and events side of the business. You will be an ambassador for the guest journey and ensure values and service behaviours are delivered consistently in a professional and friendly environment. You will be responsible for directing and developing a current great team and culture across all departments to achieve exceptional performance across the key indicators of profit, people, and RGI.
THE PROPERTY
This fantastic hotel comprising of 182 bedrooms is located adjacent to the Ageas Bowl, home to the Hampshire County Cricket Club. The hotel is six miles to the Southampton docks, where ocean-bound cruises depart, and a 5-minute drive to catch flights at Southampton Airport. The hotel is just off the M27 motorway, and 5 minutes from the M3. Hedge End Train Station is 10 minutes away by bus, getting you to Portsmouth Harbour in 40 minutes and London Waterloo in 90 minutes. The hotel boasts two fully equipped meeting rooms and plenty of free parking as well.
Also it’s such an exciting time to join the team as a refurbishment of public areas in the hotel, have been agreed with a project timescale due to commence in September.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
The ideal candidate will have successful management abilities in the hospitality industry. You should be comfortable prioritizing and organizing work commitments, while providing clear direction to your team and ascertaining hotel training needs when necessary. It is imperative that the General Manager can motivate their team while specializing in exceptional guest satisfaction. We are seeking someone grounded, hands on and focused, who can confidently enforce the excellence of hotel standards, policies, and procedures.
You must have experience of a branded, fast paced, hotel environment. You must also be able to demonstrate a track record of great leadership, ambition, enthusiasm and passion for the hotel industry.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent knowledge of the local market (preferred)
- Previous experience working within a similar branded property.
- Balanced approach to our people, commercial and the community.
- Experience managing and coordinating a large team.
