Job description
Do you have drive and determination, alongside the tact and diplomacy to balance multiple, often conflicting, workstreams?
Central to this role is how we work with the local community to ensure the Causeway Coast area is not only a great place to visit but also a great place to live.
You'll need to be able to plan long-term while not losing sight of the day-to-day excellence synonymous with a 5-star visitor attraction. The scale and popularity of the sites for both international and local visitors mean it's a complex and dynamic commercial operation. It is a demanding remit, but if your guiding star is centred on leadership we can add the technical skills to make you the complete package.
Salary up to £60k. Relocation package may be available.
What it's like to work here:We protect and care for places so that people and nature can thrive. Many millions share the belief that nature, beauty and history are for everyone. So we look after the nation’s coastline, historic sites, countryside and green spaces, ensuring that everyone benefits.
From wild and precious places, to the world outside your window, the National Trust offers access, enjoyment - and a chance for everyone to help out. Nature and the historic environment are under threat. They’re essential to everyone, they enrich people’s lives, are part of the fabric of society - and they urgently need more care.
What you'll be doing:This is a role where no two days or weeks will be the same. As well as having an eye on the day-to-day, you'll develop a plan for the future in line with the national and regional strategy.
You’ll be part of a successful wider General Manager team across Northern Ireland, working with our internal Consultancy and external partners to achieve our goals and champion our cause.
Managing a Property Leadership Team, each with their own speciality, you’ll bring a positive, can-do attitude to the team. Your motivational style will inspire them to deliver outstanding results across all areas of the portfolio, generating funds to invest back into further conservation and development.
Who we're looking forYou must be able to drive and direct change across a diverse remit. The scale of this role means you'll need to be brilliant with finances, people and projects. You’ll need to know when to delegate, and when to take ownership. Everything you do will be in harmony with our values and ambitions, but it will also make perfect commercial and financial sense.
With a wide range of skills in your toolkit, you'll need to demonstrate the following skills and experience;
- Commercial leadership experience ideally gained in the leisure, hospitality, retail or heritage sector – or strong evidence you can adapt
- A forward-thinking approach with the ability to share your vision in a clear and compelling way.
- You'll be a natural motivator and coach with an ability to set stretching targets and drive performance, helping your Property Leadership Team achieve their full potential
- You'll be adept at prioritising - the sort of person who can keep a cool head while balancing the urgent with the important
- Both conservation and commercially minded, you’ll have an understanding of what makes a great visitor experience and will be keen to make sure your high standards are evident in all parts of the operation
- You'll be a confident communicator, accomplished decision-maker and natural collaborator, adept at building effective working relationships with a wide variety of people, particularly the local community.
- You'll be comfortable managing operational risk, understand the underpinning need for compliance and know what it means to hold others to account
