General Manager - Food Production Company
Description
Established in 2004 and based in South Shropshire, we are a rapidly expanding, award winning food production company currently employing 10 local people. We are looking for a General Manager to oversee all staff, budgets and operational functions in our modern, purpose-built food production facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Directors in formulating the overall business strategy, managing staff and implementing company policies. To be successful in this role, you should be a motivational leader, a confident decision-maker, have the ability to help our staff to develop and be productive, while ensuring our turnover and profitability continue their upward trajectory. Ultimately, you should help our company grow and thrive.
Responsibilities
- Oversee our day-to-day operations
- Help design our business strategy and set goals for growth
- Maintain budgets and optimise expenses
- Implement agreed policies and processes
- Ensure our team work productively and develop professionally
- Oversee recruitment and training of new employees.
- Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance
- Direct the employee assessment process
- Prepare regular reports for the Directors
- Ensure staff follow health and safety regulations
- Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
Requirements
- Proven experience as a General Manager in the food production sector or in a similar senior role
- Developing and maintaining operating procedures and standards
- Experience in planning and budgeting
- Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
- Reviewing and reporting on KPIs for the whole team, including monthly P&L
- Strong analytical ability
- Excellent communication skills
- Outstanding organisational and leadership skills
- Problem-solving aptitude
Salary
Up to £45,000 per year depending upon experience plus annual performance bonus
