This leading fashion band was established in 2000, in London, as a stall within Camden Market. Over the past 20 years, they have grown to have two London based shops, and another boutique in Brighton. They design and make their own clothing & all prints are unique to them and created in-house. The brand specialises in 1940s and 1950s reproduction, pin-up style, and rockabilly pieces. However, the range has grown organically to appeal to a much wider audience than their initial niche.
The brand is now looking for a Garment Technologist to add to their established, exciting & accomplished team. This is a rare opportunity to join the in-house design development team at their docklands based Head Office.
The Garment Technologist oversees every stage of garment production, from design specs to manufacture. They are involved in advising on the correct fabric and techniques to achieve the desired design. They ensure the sizing, fitting and testing of the pre-production garments. This role requires a close working relationship with our designers, Garment Technologists, sample and production facility in China as well as FOB factories worldwide to ensure sampling and production is confirmed and things are running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create design specifications with measurements and construction methods appropriate for the design and fabric chosen
- Responsible for checking the fitting, measurements and the workmanship of the garments and giving final approval
- Create final production Spec Sheet for suppliers as needed
- Main point of contact on your department/ projects for sampling and production facility etc as well as FOB factories for any queries on garment construction, fitting, design/ production specifications and giving final approvals
- Communicating with key accounts for collaborations
- Tracking samples on the critical path
- Oversee the Garment Tech assistant for production fabric confirmations, PP/ Top sample approvals and wash care labels
- Take ownership of the fit and sealing process, to drive consistency and improvement on fit & constructions
- Analyse quality issues and customer returns to improve fit, size, quality and enhance the customer experience
Key Requirements:
- Minimum three years experience as a Garment Technologist or a similar role
- Willingness for international travel
- Looking for someone who has experience in plus sizes - preferable
- Good knowledge of pattern-cutting, grading, garment construction and production processes.
- Good understanding on different fabrications and knitwear
- Strong organisation skills & a high level of accuracy are required
- Keen attention to detail
- Computer literacy – use of Microsoft suite is essential
- Proficient with adobe suite and creating CADs on illustrator
- Excellent written and verbal Skill
- Problem solving and decision making
- The ability to work under pressure
