Gardener
£10.50-£14 per hour - PART TIME HOURS PW INC.
Midlands Care is a family run group of 6 care homes in Leicester providing high quality care for the elderly since 1998.
We are looking for a permanent/part-time experienced Gardener (hrs pw) to maintain the gardens across our care homes and to support our maintenance team . You will need to ensure that the grounds look both welcoming and well-kept throughout the year. Predominantly to work as a gardener however during the winter months and where required there may be some additional internal DIY tasks.
Main Responsibilities
- Generally, tidy up the garden areas, mowing any grass areas as needed, keeping any outside signs free from leaves, etc
- Soil cultivation, digging, forking, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning.
- Keep any shed, outbuildings and areas in which waste is stored in a clean and tidy condition
- Clear snow and grit paths, driveways and any areas to which residents, visitors or staff members have access
- Tend to any flower beds, hanging baskets etc
- Clean signs and lighting outside the home
- The use of mowers, strimmer's and leaf blowers
- Assist with any weekly, monthly and annual checks as per the required schedules
- Ensure that both the home and grounds are kept to the agreed maintenance standards carrying out numerous gardening duties, requiring a minimum amount of supervision.
- General DIY experience including painting, use of basic power tools etc
Key Attributes:
Previous experience of carrying out maintenance and gardening experience.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
- Full and clean driving license
- Problem Solver
- Understanding of COSHH
- Able to work unsupervised or in a group
