Francis House Children’s Hospice is seeking an experienced gardener with the ability to work on your own initiative.The gardener should be capable of using petrol driven machinery and ensuring this is kept in good working order, arranging for servicing and maintenance. An understanding of safe working practices is also important.The main weekly duties of the post holder involve planning and planting borders, mowing and edging all lawned areas around the hospice, hoeing, weeding the borders and keeping the paths and driveway swept and clear.Other jobs include trimming hedges and the renewal and pruning of larger shrubs, together with regular pruning and deadheading of roses and herbaceous perennials, with staking if necessary.
