Job description
We have an immediately available opportunity for a Ganger in Cornwall & Devon to join our Utilities, South West Water team – where no two days are the same! You will work on repairs and maintenance services to provide reliable, efficient, and high-quality drinking water and wastewater services.
We’re open to applications outside of the region, where we will provide accommodation and a food allowance.
Salary: Weekly paid hourly rate of £9.90 to £13.00, dependant on experience and posted location. With the potential to significantly increase your take-home package with standby, call-out, and overtime. All hours worked on standby will be paid at x 1.9 (£18.81 - £24.70), overtime rates vary between x 1.35 - x 1.9. Standby payments are additional (not hourly) at £20-£45 and call out from £10-£40.
Some of our Ganger high earners can take home up to circa £60k, based on additional overtime and standby worked. If you are saving for an occasion or simply want to take home more, the opportunity for overtime/call-out/standby is regularly available.
Location: Cornwall and Devon (South West) as well as Bournemouth: (Tolgus, Truro, Redruth, Barnstaple, Exeter, St Austell, Bodmin, Okehampton, Roche, Plymouth Hatherleigh and Paignton).
Travel: We will provide accommodation and a food allowance for those who are living away from home.

The role:
As an Ganger for the South West Water team your day-to-day will include:
Working as part of a small team underataking excavations Service and mains repairs, meter installations and new connections on that line for Gangers.
Ensuring projects are delivered to technical and customer specification with a strong emphasis on meeting Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards and regulations.
Who are we looking for?
Someone with a full UK Driving Licence
Prior utilities experience in the Water industry is heavily preferred
If you hold Streetworks Operative Units 001-006 SSTS and training on 360 Excavator below 10t, great. If not this is the training you can look forward to.
