Gallery Assistant

Salary on appointment will be £21,197 per annum, with an annual increment up to £23,144 per annum.
The Sainsbury Centre is one of the most prominent university art museums in Britain, with a national and international reputation for the display and study of art. Following our global relaunch tied in with the fiftieth anniversary of the Centre, we are looking for a dedicated individual to join our Gallery Assistant team.
As part of a small team you will be required to undertake a range of gallery and related support functions. The main focus is gallery security, invigilation and other support duties. You will also be expected to assist with the setting up of events and other activities in the building.
You will have 3 GCSE’s at Grade C or above (or equivalent qualification or experience) along with experience of working in a similar security role and knowledge of computerised security systems and CCTV. Proven interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach are essential attributes.
This full-time post is available immediately on an indefinite basis. A flexible approach to work is essential as you will work an average of 36 hours and 15 minutes per week over the course of a rolling roster, providing cover 7 days a week, with some early start and late finish shifts. You will also provide out of hours call out cover on a rostered basis. As such, you must live within a 15-mile radius of the Sainsbury Centre or 30 minutes travelling time with the ability to travel whilst public transport may not be available.
