Tom Cox Gallery is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Gallery Consultant.
Established in 2021 by British artist Tom Cox, this Crystal Palace based gallery has been captivating art enthusiasts and is quickly establishing itself as a top destination for contemporary art in South London.
During the week the space serves as Tom’s art studio, and from Thursday to Sunday it opens its doors to the public as a gallery presenting the work of top UK artists.
The gallery is now looking for a part-time Gallery Consultant
Days: 2-3 days per week between Friday -Sunday, with a minimum of one full weekend per month and occcasional Thursday night openings.
Open Hours: 10am-5pm Thursday - Saturday / 11am-4pm Sundays.
The role requires a versatile candidate with excellent face-to-face sales experience, who is confident providing outstanding customer service to visitors, clients, and artists, whilst helping with a broad variety of gallery tasks. You will work closely in collaboration with Tom during weekdays and manage the gallery independently on weekends.
Responsibilities:
- · Engage with visitors and potential buyers, providing excellent customer service and personalised art consultations.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the gallery’s artists, artworks, exhibitions, and classes.
- Actively promote and sell artworks, achieving sales targets
- Maintain accurate records of sales and deliveries.
- Actively grow the gallery CRM system & mailing list.
- Handle point of sale transactions and ensure the gallery’s retail area is well maintained and visually appealing.
- Hanging artworks for exhibitions and private viewings
- Packaging artworks for shipment
- Ensuring all artworks are photographed and catalogued online.
- Manage the scheduling of the gallery Instagram.
- Stretching and priming canvases
Requirements
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous sales and retail experience with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Proficiency on Microsoft Word, Excel & Gmail
- Passion for the arts and a desire to contribute to the growth and success of the gallery.
- Comfortable getting stuck in with physical tasks – using ladders, drills, etc.
Desirable:
- SLR Photography
- Photoshop ability
- Full U.K. driving licence
- Familiarity with Squarespace + Instagram
- Google Ads knowledge
Remuneration:
£13 per hour, plus performance-based sales commission.
Expected Start Date: 03.08.23.

Salary: £13.00-£25.00 per hour
