2023 is going to be an exciting year here at Mersen Holytown. With continued growth plans and investment, we are looking forward to growing our teams across our manufacturing facility. We currently have an opening for an experienced Furnace Operator.
Role Details: To support and assist in the day to day Manufacturing Department activities including but not limited to the operation of low temperature, high temperature and finishing furnaces. WIP flow management is key to ensuring the agreed priorities are achieved whilst ensuring departmental KPI’s are also met.
Main Missions This role is to ensure the manufacturing department is resourced to meet area KPI targets in productivity, efficiency, OTIF and quality while striving for the highest standards in SHE. Teamwork is a key feature of this role to ensure the departments efficiency and productivity targets are met whilst also ensuring that the product is not damaged which due to its fragile nature can happen if not handled correctly.
Key Responsibilities
· Load and unload all furnace types using lifting aids and manually.
- Movement of all inventories to required location.
- Ensure all relevant procedures, Risk assessments and COSHH practices are adhered to.
- Carry out run checks of process equipment to ensure all parameters are within specification.
- Handle product with care due to the fragile nature and ensure product quality.
- Take required product information during process and log into system and process documentation.
- Ensure all data entry into ERP system is completed promptly.
- Assist with all department housekeeping and 5S activities.
- Participate in all Kaizen and continuous improvement activities in area.
Person Specification:
· Counterbalance FLT license.
· Overhead crane License (Advantageous)
· Able to work as part of a team and/or using own initiative.
· Continuous improvement tools such as 5S, Kaizen, 5 Why, etc (Advantageous)
· Flexible to working shifts and overtime to meet business needs.
· Good manufacturing or process knowledge and understands internal and external customers.
This position involves working shifts 4 on 4 off 2 days 2 nights with an additional 46% shift allowance. 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £10.15-£14.00 per hour
