Job Description
The School of Architecture seeks part-time instructors to teach 3-credit hour courses on disciplinary topics as they intersect with a professional program in architecture.

Courses can be structured as a seminar or a design related elective. The School is particularly interested in topics related to social and ecological diversity, urbanism, professional practice and public health.

All positions are located at Lubin House, Syracuse University’s home base for New York City operations, at East 61st Street in Manhattan. The expected salary range for each position in New York City is $9,000 – $12,000 per 3-credit hour course. New hire salaries will be based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills and education, where applicable.

Qualifications
  • The School is particularly interested in candidates with strong intellectual direction, an in-depth knowledge of New York City.
  • At least 5 years of practical experience in the profession.
  • Professional licensure is encouraged. The School is committed to supporting diversity in its student population, faculty, and curriculum.

Job Specific Qualifications

Responsibilities
Those of a part-time faculty member with a teaching load of 3-credit hours including:
  • Developing a course syllabus for ARC 500 – Coordinating arrangements for guests as needed
  • Preparation of lectures, projects, or other assignments
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meeting all designated class periods.
  • Submitting final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
  • Building a positive rapport with students.
