Position: Individual Giving Fundraising Lead
Place of work: Jerry Green Dog Rescue, Fundraising Department, Broughton, North Lincolnshire (hybrid available)
Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Main Purpose of the Job:
Leading the Individual Giving arm of the Jerry Green Dog Rescue (JGDR) Fundraising team, you will be responsible for the implementation of the Individual Giving objectives, including donor management, acquisition and retention, communication and data management.
Leading a small team driven to increase Individual Giving revenue, you will be committed and enthusiastic in developing and implementing new and innovative ways to build upon individual donations. Increasing the profitability, social media presence and public awareness of Individual Giving, including but not limited to Legacy, In Memory Giving, Regular Giving, Sponsorship and Major Donors. Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, you will lead your team to develop and maintain exemplary donor stewardship journeys, become an expert on our supporters and their expectations, and drive Individual Giving Fundraising forward for an established, respected charity delivering vital dog welfare services across three regions.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Manage, develop and champion JGDR’s Regular Giving programme, supported by the Individual Giving team, namely the Sponsor a Kennel initiative, analysing and driving uptake, providing an exemplary donor journey to ensure retention, and actively seeking new sign ups through a variety of channels including but not limited to, face to face, via the telephone and online.
- Work alongside the Digital Fundraising Lead and the Community Fundraising team to promote JGDR’s Regular Giving and Sponsorship income streams, developing and managing existing offerings, innovating new ones and driving sales to increase income via these avenues.
- Work alongside colleagues in the Fundraising and Marketing teams to develop multi-faceted campaigns to generate income across various income streams, regularly collaborating with the online, education and community arms of the fundraising department.
- Develop and implement plans to encourage donors to increase the value of their donations, give more regularly, and increase contributions by signing up to Gift Aid.
- Facilitate personal development by keeping up to date with new legislation and best practise with regards to financial practise, fundraising regulations, GDPR and Gift Aid.
- Develop, implement and manage a plan for occasion giving such as from weddings and birthdays.
- To collaborate on and deliver a programme of exceptional donor care to engage and retain supporters, alongside the Fundraising Manager and colleagues.
- Produce regular reports, draw conclusions and make recommendations to improve future activity and feed into longer term strategic plans.
- Build a solid understanding of our donors using data and research to build insight, define different segments and tailor communications accordingly.
- Work with Individual Giving Fundraisers on In Memory Giving for JGDR, develop methods by which to increase ‘in memoriam’ donations and provide a sensitive and appropriate donor journey for these supporters.
- Work with Individual Giving Fundraisers on Legacy Giving for JGDR, develop methods by which to increase Legacy pledges and provide a sensitive and appropriate donor journey for these supporters. Support the Legacy, Grants & Trusts Officer in analysing supporter journeys of existing pledgers, to identify the likely target audience for Legacy marketing.
- Manage and develop JGDR’s Grand Draw and Lottery income streams, identifying and exploring avenues for growth and achieve an annual increase in profitability.
- Work with the Fundraising Manager and the Marketing Manager to develop press releases, social media content and website posts to promote all aspects of individual giving, to generate funds, and raise awareness.
- Organise promotional events for JGDR, represent JGDR at public events and ensure all fundraising activities operate within best practice and regulatory guidelines and comply with health & safety requirements.
- Direct line management of a small Individual Giving team, nurturing talent and supporting development in line with JGDR’s policies and procedures.
Administration
- To work at all times in a way that reflects the values and core principles of Jerry Green Dog Rescue
- To keep informed of best practice in fundraising and of key developments in charity income streams.
- To ensure GDPR compliance.
- To work within the guidelines and codes of practice of the Fundraising Regulatorand the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
- To conduct on-going financial assessments of regular giving procedures.
- Take responsibility for the creation and administration of correspondence and communications with regular donors and to support the fundraising team with any administration duties as required.
- To take a collaborative approach to working across all areas of fundraising in Jerry Green Dog Rescue.
- To provide the Fundraising Manager with regular updates and written progress reports.
General

Person Specification Core Competencies
Qualifications & experience - Essential
- Minimum 2 years relevant fundraising experience.
- Line management or leadership experience.
- A proven track record of achievement against targets/budget.
- Direct experience of preparing high quality written work in a professional environment.
Qualifications & experience - Desirable
- Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience
- Member of Fundraising or Marketing Professional body
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Essential
- Excellent writing skills, particularly persuasive writing, and excellent grammar and punctuation.
- Excellent planning and organising skills, including the ability to manage and/or support several activities simultaneously.
- Experience of using a range of fundraising researching tools and techniques.
- Excellent Information technology skills.
- Demonstrable understanding/appreciation of donors and the donor journey.
- Full, clean driving licence

- Prepared to be trained as a Green Dog handler.
