Job description
Family and Children’s Service of the Waterloo Region currently has a temporary Fundraising Assistant position available. Proposed hours are up to 34 hrs per week for approximately 10 weeks. The schedule could include weekends, evenings and holidays as may be determined by the services and supports required.
Since 1991, the Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region Foundation has supported children, youth, and families in our community. Government funding is not enough to meet the needs of the families we serve. Research shows that it takes a caring community to help children and families. Thanks to the support of kind and generous individuals, families, businesses, and foundations, we are able to support the programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect and allow children and their families to stay together and thrive.
This is a great opportunity for a student who is passionate about children, youth and families and promoting equity and social justices and would like to learn more about fundraising. The FACS Foundation team is small, and you will have exposure to all facets of the Foundation, allowing for autonomy, initiative, and leadership development. As a student member of the FACS team, you will bring boundless energy and youth perspective to an organization that is looking to reinvent what’s possible in philanthropy.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist with all facets of fundraising – with a particular focus on:
- Learning our donor database
- Improving the quality of donor records
- Researching and prospecting potential donors
- Communications and relationship building with various stakeholders.
- Marketing across a variety of platforms and channels including digital, offline, and traditional media.
- Advertising and promotion
- Content creation
- Teamwork and influencing change to achieve goals.
- Conduct research to maximize fundraising opportunities for existing and future events.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidates will be in the process completing post-secondary education in Fund Development, Non-Profit Management, Special Events, or another related program.
- A clear understanding of inclusionary and ethical approaches and a demonstrated ability to assist people to connect to their community.
- Strong organizational and verbal and written communication skills are essential; experience with reporting requirements and the ability to participate with individuals in all elements of community activities.
Salary Range:
$19.88 per hour (plus 4% vacation)
