Your Mission
As a Functional Skills Officer you are responsible for delivering individualised functional skills learning to your own caseload of learners via various methods across Busy Bees Education & Training, to enable them to achieve their functional skills requirements within 6 months of start. You will have excellent knowledge of Functional Skills as a whole to enable yourself and Busy Bees education & Training to successfully hit the KPIs and ensure a positive learning journey for all our learners.
Key Tasks
- Deliver and drive functional skill requirements across your allocated caseload meeting the KPIs of completion within 6 months of start
- Support individualised functional skills delivery through teaching sessions, online delivery, support sessions and via 1:1 methods across Busy Bees Education & Training and your own caseload of learners
- Develop resources and activities to support the delivery of learning and capture assessment
- Plan and deliver online training sessions providing feedback on attendance
- Evidence 4 weekly teaching, learning and assessment across own caseload within the Eportfolio
- Engage with Functional Skills Manager and allocated ATL to identify challenges, areas of improvement, areas of good practice and status of learning
- Attend allocated ATL team meetings for current information within region and business updates
- Mark mock exams and provide constructive feedback to support the learner to work on and improve
- Book exams for own caseload of learners in line with practices and processes within Busy Bees Education & Training
- Meet requirements set out by Awarding Organisations
- Be enthusiastic and proactive in developing own skills within the workplace
- Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development
Requirements for the Role
- Level 3 Teaching qualification (or willing to work towards)
- Level 2 / grade C / grade 4 qualification in Math, English & ICT
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have flexibility and be able to work to tight deadlines
- Organised and able to manage multiple activities
- Be willing to travel UK wide and attend meetings
- Adapt practice to support individual needs of learners
Experience
- Prior experience of teaching
- Using IT systems
Knowledge
- Basic understanding of apprenticeships and the requirements to achieve
- NCFE and Skillsfirst Awarding Organisations functional skills qualifications

- Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers
