Job description
We are looking for a full time (25 hours+ per week) waiter/runner to join our team at the The French Quarter. The French Quarter is a relaxed, warm and friendly neighbourhood restaurant & wine bar. Offering a simple and regularly changing wine list & tapas style menu, we work with independent suppliers locally and in France, inviting our customers to discover a range of carefully selected products. We challenge perceptions that French dining is formal or fussy and instead create a casual and sociable environment where customers are invited to experience our food, try our wines, shop from our deli and share our love of all things French!
We are part of a community of unique and quirky businesses around the corner from Central Station and just a few minutes walk from the quayside. The 2-floor venue offers seating for up to 60 people, a private function option and take away service.

We are looking for people with an interest in becoming Waiting Staff with a history of working in a lively and fast paced environment. The successful candidates will be given the opportunity to evolve with the business and if desired take on further responsibilities as we grow.
As a member of waiting staff you will be responsible for;
- Serving and clearing tables
- Use a tray to bring food and drinks to the tables
- Greeting customers and presenting menus
- Interacting with customers, making recommendations and answering inquiries
- Checking identification of customers under our challenge 21 policy
- Recording food and drinks orders accurately into POS system
- Maintaining a good working relationship with the waiting staff, kitchen team and managing directors
- Responding promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion
- Processing transactions, calculating change and processing customer payments using the POS system
- Ensuring clean glasses, equipment and working areas
- Complying with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
- Staying guest focused and nurturing an excellent guest experience
- Respecting and promoting the company values and ethos

Must haves:
- Able to work 30 hours per week
- Proven work experience working in a restaurant and bartending experience
- Ability to be flexible with working hours
- Numeracy and cash-handling skills
- Proven and demonstrable communication skills
- A genuine commitment to delivering a great hospitality service
- A desire to learn about our products and confidence to share this knowledge with our customers.
- High standards and pride in your work
Education:
- Secondary education and good numerical, verbal and written communication skills
