Job description
- To cover such comparable duties as may be required by the Housekeeper and the Registered Manager.
- To provide full Domestic/Laundry assistance and support within the Home for the benefit of the residents and to maintain a high standard of service.
- Domestic assistance to take appropriate action to comply with policies and procedures of the Home, ensuring the well-being of all service users, reporting to senior person in charge of the shift. Ensuring any changes with regards to needs have been recorded and communicated.
- Manage and schedule own workload to meet with deadlines and timescales whilst identifying and managing any risks to quality of service provided, in line with Housekeeper and Management allocation of duties and responsibilities.
- Ensure the cleanliness of all areas and work stations within the home relating to Domestic and Laundry Role.
- Maintain clear and accurate records in relation to duties and responsibilities.
- To be sensitive to personal and confidential, company and individual information.
- Maintain own professional development and mandatory training in line with company requirements.
- To be creative in ways of communicating to residents we support as well as demonstrating a positive attitude towards the elderly and those experiencing a Dementia.
- To work in a way which promotes a supportive environment which meets the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of the residents in line with the Company’s policy.
- To respect and value the Home as the residents home and assist the resident in creating a homely, healthy, and safe environment that meets their personal preferences.
- Be courteous and helpful with residents, families, colleagues, and all visitors to the Home.
- To always ensure safe working practice and support the implementation of best practice policies.
- To report faulty equipment and premises as necessary to the Housekeeper and/or Maintenance team and recorded in the maintenance book.
- Ensure operation of equipment is within guidelines, to ensure efficient operation and prevent Health & Safety risks.
- To have a good understanding of all aspects of Health & Safety and infection prevention and other such regulations in relation to role and follow correct working systems in line with organisation policies as well as understanding the services provided within the Home.
- Efficient use of any supplies within the department.
- Staff to be conversant with actions to be taken in the event of an emergency, such as ill health, adverse behaviour of a resident and/or fire precautions or failure in power supplies.
- Maintain high standard of personal hygiene and be appropriately always dressed ensuring the correct PPE is worn.
- To ensure all supplies and equipment are stored appropriately and storage and work areas are monitored for cleanliness and maintenance and are left in good order.
- To ensure a stock requirement are reported to the housekeeper.
- To assist in the planning, management, and implementation of change to the service provided to continually improve.
- To report accident and hazards and ensure all relevant documentation and paperwork related to role is completed.
- Staff member to ensure they attend departmental meetings as well as regular supervision and appraisals.
- To be able to work under pressure due to the unpredictability of the work and have a certain amount of flexibility to the role to support the smooth running of the Home.
