We are a clean technology startup, based in the UK. Using technology to pioneer change in the way households use energy. Our free app rewards consumers for automatically pausing high energy usage appliances and electric vehicle charging when energy is most expensive and polluting.

This is Demand Side Response on a residential scale that puts money in the pockets of consumers, saves cost for energy providers and helps everyone to reduce their carbon footprint. We are a diverse and friendly team that support each other to achieve our overall goals.

We don’t have a ping pong table and we don’t (always) drink beer every Friday but we do get a good balance between having fun and doing some serious stuff.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, multi-tasker, and demonstrated team-player. You should excel in working with large-scale applications and frameworks and have outstanding communication and leadership skills.

This role will be based at our modern office at Proto in Gateshead, UK.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & improve our existing Python (Django) backend environment.
  • Work on frontend feature updates & improvements.
  • Work with other engineers to design & build APIs required for our applications.
  • Scale our existing infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and debug our existing applications to ensure that they are running smoothly.
  • Writing clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code.
  • Participate in code reviews & sprint planning sessions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering (or similar preferred).
  • 2+ years experience as a full-stack developer or similar role
  • Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and popular frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js..
  • Expertise in Object Oriented Design, Database Design, API Design.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work.

Other Skills

  • Experience with GCP preferred.
  • Fluent in written & spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently & in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn & use more advanced technologies to improve your skill level.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £36,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
