Splicer / Tester (Testing experience is a must)

The successful candidate will be responsible for splicing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables in accordance with industry standards. The role requires proficiency with fiber optic fusion splicing machines, cable preparation tools, and test equipment

Responsibilities Include
- You will be responsible for preparing, splicing, and installing small, medium, and large cable joints (48F/96F/72F/144F) either underground or overhead.
- You will be responsible for performing underground and overhead cabling, including rod and rope, subduct, cable pulling, and fibre blowing. Additionally, you will conduct testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on fiber optic networks.
- Maintain all accurate records, data and provide daily progress reports.
- Perform acceptance testing using OTDR, light source and power meters.
- The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the full Fibre design from an implementation perspective. You will assign tasks to teams, conduct fiber splicing matrix analysis, and collaborate with internal and external technical experts to provide effective responses to customers.
- You will be responsible for taking photographs of completed fiber distribution points, both inside the closure and externally, showing their position on the chamber or poles. You will collaborate with internal and external technical experts to provide effective responses to customers.
- Give practical demos to new recruits to help them learn the right way.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality, Company and Environmental policies.
- Reading Fibreray network maps and drawings.
- Report any issues effecting delivery.
Requirements and Key Skills
- The ideal candidate for this position would have a minimum of 6 months to 3 years of fibre experience with Openreach, Virgin Media, or other fibre network infrastructure building companies in the UK.
- Has working knowledge of PIA rules (Physical Infrastructure Access) of the BT Network and should be efficient in following these rules.
- Fibre splicing experience in BT Openreach ducts, especially with fibre optics cable.
- Hold the following accreditation: SA001, SA002, K008, N028, N023 N027, NRSWA Unit 2.
- Ability to work long hours and in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, maps and engineering drawings.
- Ability to lift and carry and endure the physical constraints of the job.
- Understand the value of doing it correctly the first time and believes in delivering quality service.
- Competent using Office 365, Outlook and Excel.

Salary: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
