Job Title: Front of House Operative – Porter
Salary: £22,500 per annum
Hours of Work: 37.5 per week, working Monday to Sunday
Contract Type: Full time, Permanent

We are seeking a friendly and professional Porter to join our team at King Edward VII’s Hospital. The successful candidate will play an essential role in providing a first-class experience by welcoming patients and visitors, assisting with their luggage, and ensuring that they have everything they need during their stay.
What will you be doing?
- To be an efficient and effective member of the Front of House Team, maintaining the highest standards of customer service at all times.
- To show a flexible approach to work whilst undertaking a wide range of routine and non-routine tasks, ensuring that all visitors to the hospital receive excellent customer service and exemplary patient journey.
- To be polite and well presented at all times, and to be able to work unsupervised as well as part of a team.
- The post holder will be required to work mostly as a porter but may be asked to cover receptionist and doormen duties as necessary, at both the main hospital and outpatient receptions.
Key duties:
- Welcome all patients, consultants, and visitors to the Hospital facilities and maintain good communications with any visitor. Inform the relevant staff and departments of their arrival and direct all visitors to the correct location (or to the waiting area to be collected)
- Provide excellent customer service at all times
- Assist by escorting patients and visitors to their destination, ensure there is always somebody present to meet them or aware of their presence
- Assist patients with their luggage upon arrival and departure
- Assist patients, communicate with wards and admissions regarding transport requirements upon arrival, admission or discharge from the hospital
- Assist with hospital deliveries, all internal and external, incoming and outgoing mail
- Be conscious and vigilant, ensuring there are no breeches of security at the Hospital Main Reception, Outpatient Department, Front Entrance and immediate area including waiting areas
- Screen all visitors, controlling the access through the security doors in the main Reception, ensure their arrival is recorded
Who are you?
- You will have good communication Skills
- Be able to maintain a healthy and safe environment for patients, relatives and staff
- Be able to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
- Understand the term ‘Duty of Care’ and to always act in the best interests of the patient/client
- Be able to maintain patient and hospital confidentiality at all times
