Job description

Being a Freelance Education Events Coordinator:

You’ll be working alongside and supported by a dedicated team who are passionate about making a difference and ambitious for what we can achieve.

We work with a hugely diverse range of young people in West Yorkshire and beyond, and believe that it is key to provide them with positive role models who they can relate to. We therefore are incredibly passionate about diversity and inclusion in all forms and would love to hear from people who reflect this. If you share our passion and vision but are worried that you may not have the ‘correct’ skills or experience, please do get in touch – we are always interested in hearing from people who want to work with us.

We offer generous hourly / day rates. No direct experience is required as full training will be provided. Prior experience working with young people, working within education or teaching would be an advantage.

You will need to;

  • be passionate about being part of a purpose-led business
  • bring your individuality to deliver content to young people in an exciting and engaging way
  • embracechange and be flexible in how you work
  • be comfortable working in partnership with the wider team and external stakeholders including employers and teachers

Responsibilities:

Planning of activities:

  • Work as part of a wider project team on the preparation and planning of activities
  • Carry out planning calls with stakeholders, to ensure all delivery and logistical considerations are accounted for
  • Recruitment of diverse volunteers to support activities
  • Undertake administrative duties to deliver projects you support

Delivery of activities:

  • Represent Ahead Partnership in line with our values and culture
  • Liaise with an Ahead Partnership member of staff prior to the event
  • Meet and greet, brief and continually engage business volunteers
  • Ensure the event spaces are set up correctly as specified
  • Lead/Facilitate the session from start to finish, including time-management and gathering feedback
  • Ability to adapt to different scenarios whilst running the event
  • Report back to the relevant Ahead Partnership contact after each event
  • Undertake other duties as requested and commensurate with the post

Required Skills:

  • Proven facilitation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to think on your feet and problem solve
  • Demonstrable planning, organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good level of spelling and grammar
  • Excellent communicator

Required Experience:

  • Experience of working with Young People – ideally those aged 11-16 years old
  • Comprehensive experience of delivering presentations, training or workshops to a large audience and facilitating groups
  • Experience of developing and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders and partners.

Work is adhoc. We are flexible and happy to work around your other commitments, if you are happy to be flexible too! As the programmes grow more work will become available, if you’re interested in doing more with us.
