FPGA Software Engineer – C++ / C# London, England

G-Research
Full Time London, England 75000 - 122000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Location : London

G-Research is Europe’s leading quantitative finance research firm. We hire the brightest minds in the world to tackle some of the biggest questions in finance. We pair this expertise with machine learning, big data, and some of the most advanced technology available to predict movements in financial markets.

The role

The FPGA Embedded Software team builds software components that sit at the heart of G-Research’s ultra-low-latency platform. These operate in tandem with our in-house hardware solutions and are increasingly key to the performance of the business.

As a Software Engineer within the team, you will work on a codebase that is split between C++ and C#. Latency-critical components favour C++ while research-facing APIs and supporting services are typically written in C#.

We also handle CI/CD via a range of automation tools, as well as a small amount of scripting, and employ a "best tool for the job" mentality – we are always looking for new ideas and approaches to solving the problems in our domain.

You will work closely with our partner team of FPGA hardware developers and have scope to take on more research-facing work to help our Quantitative Researchers fine-tune the algorithms running on the FPGA itself. Therefore, the ability to work effectively with other teams and disciplines is vital.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we embark on a major period of growth on our FPGA journey.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a dynamic, fast-thinking and adaptable Software Engineer to drive forward software components within our FPGA platform.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with at least one of C++ and C#, and a desire to learn the other
  • Strong communication skills, including across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to think pragmatically about challenging problems
  • Previous experience with FPGAs and finance is useful but far from essential

Why should you apply?

  • Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
  • Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
  • 30 days’ annual leave
  • 9% company pension contributions
  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
  • Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Monthly company events

G-Research is committed to cultivating and preserving an inclusive work environment. We are an ideas-driven business and we place great value on diversity of experience and opinions.

We want to ensure that applicants receive a recruitment experience that enables them to perform at their best. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation please let us know in the relevant section.
