Are you caring, compassionate, motivated and interested in developing your career within the health service?

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust’s (KCHFT) four ambitions drive our determination to be a top employer:

  • Our conversations focus on what matters to the patient, so they get the right care, in the right place

  • Training support during your apprenticeship and then formalised preceptorship up to one-year post qualification.
  • A commitment to offering and funding continuing professional development opportunities after you qualify.
  • A holistic approach to supporting staff health and well-being of staff
  • A commitment to reducing discrimination for staff through our Nobody Left Behind – people, equity, diversity and inclusion strategy.
1. Sustainable care: We will live within our means to deliver outstanding care, in the right buildings, supported by technology, and reduce our carbon footprint

You will train alongside a skilled team of professionals who include nurses, community matrons, specialist nurses, health care assistants and therapy assistants.

As a Foundation Degree in Nursing Associate apprentice in Community Nursing, you will provide care to patients in their own homes, including residential homes, where appropriate. Community nurses work hard to treat patients at home so they do not have to go into hospital unnecessarily.

Nurses look after people who are housebound and who have nursing needs. They carry out a range of nursing procedures, for example, medicine administration, taking blood, dressing changes, and contributing to integrated care.

Nursing associates are members of the nursing team, who have gained a Foundation Degree, typically involving two years of higher education. They are not nurses; nursing is a graduate entry profession and those joining the nursing part of the NMC register require a degree. Nurses also develop additional skills and knowledge within a specific field of nursing. This job description reflects the six platforms of the Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates (2018)
1. Being an accountable professional
2. Promoting health and preventing ill health
3. Provide and monitor care
4. Working in teams
5. Improving safety and quality of care
6. Contributing to integrated care
