Formulation Scientist – OTC Healthcare Manufacturing
Secondment / Fixed Term Contract – 18 Months
As a Formulation Scientist you will be joining a team of medicine subject matter experts facilitating a programme of technical transfers of Boots Branded OTC products. In this important predominantly non lab based role you will use your scientific and formulation expertise to lead the transfer of processes for a range of oral liquids and topical products working closely with contract manufactures in the UK and Europe.
About the role
The role holder will use their scientific and formulation knowledge to manage and oversee the successful technical transfer of a range of OTC medicines. Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

About the role
The role holder will use their scientific and formulation knowledge to manage and oversee the successful technical transfer of a range of OTC medicines. Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Uses scientific and formulation expertise in relevant technology areas to ensure appropriate validation protocols are in place, reviews and makes recommendations to ensure they meet regulatory requirements
- Uses scientific knowledge to optimise product specification within the regulatory parameters
- Provides technical support and assesses validation trials and data
- Conducts all necessary due diligence checks and is accountable for identifying and managing formulation and raw material technical risks
- Works with a cross functional team of experts to define the technical transfer activity plan, responsible for ensuring that the formulation work plan is delivered
- Accountable for quality and accurate formulation data and delivery of relevant technical documentation as part of a team responsible for regulatory submissions

What you'll need to have
- You will have a scientific degree or relevant qualification, ideally within Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Science
- You will have OTC formulation and processing experience and knowledge of consumer healthcare categories
- Experience of generating, reviewing and approving technical documentation to support new or existing OTC products
- You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, able to prioritise effectively and work collaboratively with a cross functional teams
- Strong scientific acumen with a proven track record of delivering product solutions
- An ability to communicate and manage risk to the business (inc. management of senior stakeholders) by balancing technical risk with business opportunity
