More than just a veg box….
Riverford are mad about organic veg. It’s at the core of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into boxes, and deliver it to around 70,000 homes across the UK every week.
This takes loads of brilliant people – and working here makes you a ‘co-owner’, since Riverford is employee owned. Success means much more than just profits; we want this to be a place people enjoy coming to work, and a business our co-owners feel proud of!
In 2021, we were delighted to be awarded two-star Best Companies accreditation, recognising Riverford as an ‘outstanding’ place to work.
What you’ll be doing…
As well as our original Devon home, we have a farm in Peterborough: Sacrewell Farm, where we grow a variety of organic veg and pack boxes bursting with produce (grown by us and by other small-scale organic farmers). You’ll be working in the Goods-In Team, alongside our Quality Control Team.
This role is an afternoon and early evening shift within Riverford’s Sacrewell site. The Goods In area is a hive of activity, in this role you will working with and forging relationships with a variety of people and departments. As Goods In Team Member the role will require you to be working in an outdoor environment as well as inside large cold stores and open indoor areas. You’ll be responsible for the movement of pallets and bulk bins between these areas as well as the safe loading and unloading of daily deliveries and returning loads, providing a quick turnaround where needed as well as managing the yard space.
As part of the sites overall stock management process, daily stock counts may form part of your working day as well as the arranging produce deliveries into designated areas for processing.
Due to the nature of the products and the role, this position will involve regular lifting, manual handling in addition to the regular and safe use of a forklift and pallet trucks.
Other roles include the collation of recycling and waste ready for loading off site and ensuring the grade out produced daily is disposed of in a timely manner. In the winter months there is an added requirement to ensure the yard and surrounding areas are salted.
This is a permanent contract, working 39 hours per week usually Sunday to Thursday between the hours 12:00pm to 8:30pm. Based at our site on Sacrewell Farm, Peterborough. PE8 6HJ
