Salary: Scale 6, £28,530 - £30,375 per annum

An exciting 12 month secondment opportunity had arisen within the Forensic Intelligence Team, based at Southampton Central Police Station . Secondment Declaration Form

Role Profile
To provide a coherent intelligence service to Hampshire Constabulary on behalf of the Scientific Services Department (SSD) on all aspects of forensic intelligence, particularly in respect of DNA hits and footwear marks. To ensure the timely research and dissemination of analytical and intelligence packages to investigators and OCU Intelligence Units.
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
1. To review and disseminate DNA results from the National DNA Database (NDNAD) and Forensic Service providers (FSPs). Issue Streamline Forensic Reports (SFRs) to investigating officer’s and ensure that DNA matches are being issued lawfully under the Protection of Freedoms Act (POFA).
2. To assist with the processing and dissemination of footwear evidence, including processing FW results from Thames Valley Police to enable the completion of pattern coding from footwear marks found at crime scenes
3. Update appropriate databases for intelligence purposes, including the NFD and NFRC (Home Office footwear databases) and use I2 Analyst notebook software to produce relevant reports. As well as providing assistance with MG21 footwear submission requests.
4. To thoroughly research and input information onto a variety of different computer systems, including, but not limited to, RMS, PNC and PND.
5. Analyse and develop burglary data across the Force in order to identify potential series and forensic links, liaising with investigators and produce comprehensive research packages on Suspects/offences, proposing appropriate and proportionate recommendations regarding this, highlighting any outstanding forensic potential and submitting suspect comparisons where necessary.
6. To maintain effective channels of communication with FSPs, the Scientific Services Department and Operational Police Officers in Hampshire and out of force, where required. Including attending meetings when requested to provide Forensic Intelligence and support, becoming the central point of contact in respect of Forensic Intelligence issues.

Essential Qualifications
Educated to Educated to QCF Level 3 (two or three passes) OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level. A formal qualification, or appropriate experience in intelligence analysis.
Essential Experience
Proven experience working in a busy office environment involving the use of computers for data entry and analysis, maintaining and updating complex record keeping systems, both computerised and manual Liaising and communicating efficiently and effectively with all levels of staff and general public. Good working knowledge of Excel to include ability to create and amend formulas, and create links to other spreadsheets
